Yes, I'm a little late and behind everyone else but this was just too much fun to let it pass me by. Here's a quote from 15 of my favorite movies. You guess the movie, you reply to this post and I update the post by putting your name next to the quote. Enjoy!

"I wish they wouldn't land those things here while we are playing golf."

"Introduce her to your world of sex, drugs…what else do you do?"

"Like Constantinople or Rome before it the city has become a breeding ground for suffering and injustice. It is beyond saving and must be allowed to die."

"Banoffee pie? No thanks. Thank God. You would have broken my heart if you'd said yes."

"Hello? 911 emergency? My car's been stolen! I'm in pursuit! I need the whole squadron, bring everyone! But I didn't hate them. I pitied them. Do you know why? Because most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes."

"You know, one of these days, you might want to consider sitting down with someone. He was a abusive, alcoholic, misogynist who squandered half his life handing around Picasso trying to nail his leftovers."

"Now that's a big trunk. It holds a tuba, a suitcase, a dead dog, and a garment bag almost perfectly. That's just what they used to say in the ads."

"You're wasting your time, there nothing on this island but sheep and rocks.
Look, London....

Well, as I get ready to pack for my first business trip of sorts, I thought I should clean off my camera and post some pics I have of London. By the middle of next week there should be a new set of pics of the English country side that include sheep. British sheep. Guaranteed to be cuter than American goats. So stay tuned.

I literally turned the corner and said "Holy crap! It's Big Ben." It was the first time I'd seen it, and while I have seen it many times since, this picture still reminds me of my first knee jerk reaction. I mean, come on, how many times to centuries old landmarks sneak up on you?

The same day I saw the gate of Buckingham Palace. It was really warm that day and there were tourists everywhere but it was still cool to see. There are post cards that show Buckingham Palace from above with an arrow that points to a window in the house that has "My room" printed above it. It's kinda cute in that obnoxious tourist kinda way. Did I mention it was warm and there were loud people and small children everywhere??? Still, pretty gate.

This is one of the Lions outside of the British Museum. I love this stone lion. Don't ask me why, I just do. I love how stately he looks. Very posh. Very British.

Jeremy drew this turkey on our dry erase board for Thanksgiving. He was to let everyone know when dinner was and that. He's sorta become the flat mascot. Yea, I know that makes us all Turkeys. But I get surprised by a huge fucking clock every now and again so it evens out.

Some of you may have seen this before. This is the super cool picture of our Tube station that Jeremy took.

This is one of my views on my way to work. It's this whole little back street down an ally way and between two streets. It's crazy and very cool. I want to live here. Though in all fairness, I do say that alot.

These were the coolest Christmas windows I'd ever seen. Jeremy and I saw them New Years Day. We were on Regent Street and saw the parade. It was chilly, hella windy, and there were loads of American High School bands playing in the parade. It was crazy. Seriously, does the entire country of Britain not have a music program in the schools???

This statue of Gandi is in a small park outside of University College London. He studied law there a long time ago and the park itself is always calm and peaceful it seems even though it is in a pretty busy cross section of London.

And then there is me on the London Eye. I know, I know. I'm not as cute as Gandhi, but we can't all be.

Well, it's the last day of 2006. I was reading Angela's meme and I thought it looked interesting. So here it is, folks, for the first time ever....Jessica Watson's year in review and resolutions for the new year. I've never actually made a serious New Years Resolution and so the list at 39 will be interesting to read this time next year to see how I do.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
-I graduated college with a BA in history
-I got into a college on the first try
-I moved to England
-Took Jeremy on vacation

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't really make a New Year's resolution, really. I just wanted to move somewhere else and I did, so I consider this past year an unmitigated success

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No they didn't

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully that is also a no

5. What countries did you visit?
I visited England for the first time. It was actually the first country that I had ever visited so I was happy.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A Master's Degree and pretty papers that say I can work in the UK

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
September 18th: I officially became homeless and had to go to another state to couch surf...which was not completely true as I slept in Sarah's comfy bed
September 23rd: I shelped almost all the crap I owned up Holloway Road to live in a shoe box

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting into Grad school

9. What was your biggest failure?
I can't say I had a big failure. Things that sucked, sure but I wouldn't call them failures

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Thankfully nothing permanent

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought a plane ticket to London..oh and I bought Jeremy a piece of his favorite football team. Go Spurs!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The American people who voted democrat, the democrats for getting their act together ...and the Republicans for their part. Way to go guys!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
That would be George's.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The ominous black hole know as conversion rates

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My acceptance into grad school and visiting Sarah in NYC

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
I wish I was a Punk Rocker by Sandi Thom and most importantly Soul Shine by Gov't Mule

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? I am happier
b) thinner or fatter? Much thinner
c) richer or poorer? Certainly poorer on paper

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Walking the Noland Trail before I left

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Lounging days away on the sofa

20. How did you spend Christmas?
I opened presents with Jeremy, made dinner for my flatmates, and watched Dr. Who

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes with Jeremy all over again and with the city of London

22. How many one-night stands?
37...in a row - come on now, be serious.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Imported: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip Domestic: a toss up between Torchwood and Dr. Who

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah, I'm trying to keep the hate to a minimum

25. What was the best book you read?
I actually have not had that much time to read this year (which is why it is going to be a resolution...stay tuned for those). I read American Gods and Anansi's Boys and I loved both of those books

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
KT Tunstall and Sandi Thom

27. What did you want and get?
Education Visas to the UK

28. What did you want and not get?
Pregnant

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
From a purely entertainment, highly anticipated sorta way, I've got to go with X3

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28 this year. Jeremy and I walked around Camden and had very very yummy Japanese food

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Honestly, I can't think of anything. 2006 was a damn fine year for me, and 2007 I just have a feeling is going to be even better. I don't have that feeling too often particularly at the New Year so I am kinda giddy about it.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Well, for the first part of the year it was Harley t-shirts. For the last half of the year, it was unintentionally intentional baggy jeans

33. What kept you sane?
Jeremy

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I still now and will forever thing Angelina Jolie is hot

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Marriage rights in VA

36. Who did you miss?
Everyone. I really do miss you guys

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Clair and Tory. They are bright, brilliant, wonderful people who I miss a lot and just need to move here.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
Whatever you want, just go for it. If you are unhappy, just do something about it

39. What are your resolutions for 2007?
-To lose the rest of the weight
-To read more
-To get my Master's degree
-To get pregnant
-To go to the gym (or at least intentionally exercise) bare minimum three days a week
-To shop for clothes easily in British shops
-Start running without the thought that I was going to meet my maker

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Until you've seen this trash can dream come true, you stand at the edge while people run you through and I thank the Lord there's people out there like you.

Well, there you go. Happy New Year's everyone!

Dear World at Large,

If you happen to see me in line at the grocery store (5'9", brown hair, Lisa Lobe glasses), please, for the love of all things good and holy, don't comment about my choice of breakfast foods. I happen to every now and again eat a bowl to Coco Crispies. Can I do it often? No because with the suck ass conversion rate it costs me about $6 for a regular sized box, but I just get a job so I am splurging. I don't want to hear it at all. I don't care that it probably isn't good for me and I couldn't give a fuck less about your views on it. Keep it to yourself. It will make both of our days less irksome.

Thank you,
An American in London

PS. To the f*!%*#g wanker in front of me in line that prompted this little tirade: I am fairly sure that if you asked any Doctor, Medicine man, Voodoo Priestest, or 6 year old in a school uniform, they will cheerfully inform you that me eating a bowl of Coco Crispies about a half dozen times a year is leap and bounds better than smoking the unfiltered cigarettes in your pocket!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you...that is all.

I am very excited. The money is part of it, trust me. The other part of it is just getting out and doing something other than studying. I have to admit, I was going to burn out on school quick if I didn't do something else. My job basically consists of keeping this small business running as best I can. I can do that. If nothing else, it will be fun.

My Christmas presents have been mailed. I know, I'm shocked too. I have learned that it is expensive as all hell to ship things to the States but I have done it and it arrived. My mom says she'll mail me things by Friday hopefully. Hmm...I'm sure I'll get it by St. Patrick's day. I want to pick up a thing or two for Jeremy but other than that, I am actually ready for Christmas. This is so wierd.

Jeremy's parents will be here early on Saturday morning. I am looking foreward to that. If nothing else, I'll get to see those things I keep telling myself that I will and haven't got around to yet.

Randomly (now that I am going to have a bit of money) I find myself looking for tickets to interesting places. Hmm...I wonder how much a ticket costs from London to Sweden....

Since I had a request do to so, I am posting this meme.

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Fiction/books that you think I will like
2. A great mechanical pencil with a good eraser
3. Knee socks that are nifty
4. A great pair of trainers/sneakers that will stop making my feet hurt when I walk too long
5. Pictures to put in my room
6. Anything little and Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Marvel, ect. related
7. Cool long sleeve t-shirt
8. A small amount of very good chocolate or truffles
9. A small bookshelf to go in my room.
10. A plane ticket to some place I've never been before

I'll write more later about my day out in the West End yesterday.
